The Leicester City forward halted a lengthy goal barren run for Zambia with his late header in Casablanca.
Patson Daka was the the savior for Chipolopolo as his stoppage-time header earned a dramatic 1-1 draw against Mali at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Mali Takes First-Half Initiative
Lassine Sinayoko had broken the deadlock around the 60-minute mark in the Group A clash at the iconic Casablanca stadium, drilling home from point-blank range after his initial attempt from a corner kick had been blocked.
Mali controlled the tempo and had an opportunity to take the lead in the closing stages of the first half after Nene Dorgeles was fouled in the penalty area by Chipolopolo defender Matthews Banda.
The designated penalty taker stepped up for Mali but his low effort was brilliantly parried by Zambia goalkeeper Willard Mwanza.
The Striker's Dramatic Response
The Leicester City man later secured a point for the former champions, who were for the most part overwhelmed by the aerial strength of their opponents until Banda's pinpoint pass was pounced upon by the forward.
Group A Outlook
This draw leaves both sides a couple of points behind host nation Morocco in the group standings after the Atlas Lions claimed victory in their first match 2-0 against Comoros at the weekend.
Chipolopolo will remain in the city to face their next game against their next opponents on Friday, while The Eagles journey to Rabat for a pivotal showdown against Morocco.
